The mySMARTLife Objectives:
  • Transforming current cities into more sustainable places where smart people and smart economy become reality.
  • Making cities more environmentally friendly by reducing CO2 emissions and increasing the use of renewable energy sources.
  • Making cities more inclusive and allowing a high quality of life.
  • Involving citizens in the development of an integrated urban transformation strategy, which is easily transferable to other cities.
  • Increasing the digitalization of the cities thanks to the urban platforms.
  • Implementing more than 150 actions in the three lighthouse cities of Nantes, Hamburg and Helsinki.
  • Passing on experiences to the four follower cities (Bydgoszcz, Varna, Rijeka and Palencia) as well as inviting other European cities to join the mySMARTLife cities network to share their experience.
Smart people ecosystem:

Providing an attractive environment for the development of human activities through a participative management model.

Smart economy:

A solid economic framework guaranteeing employment, an adequate income and enough variety of services, thereby attracting talents and providing goods and services according to the actual requirements.

Integrated urban transformation strategy:

Developing new ways on how to engage citizens in the city life and in an integrated city planning process. The main instrument to achieve this is the definition of the Advanced Urban Planning, consisting of an integrated approach of the planned city interventions on the basis of a rigorous impact assessment, an active citizen engagement in the decision-making process and a structured business approach – from the city business model perspective to the economic framework – for big companies and local SMEs and Start-Ups.

150 actions:

Within the 3 Lighthouse Cities, 150 demonstration actions will be carried out, ranging from technical actions (refurbishments of buildings, usage of renewable energies, clean transport and supporting ICT solutions) to social / non-technical actions (citizen engagement, development of innovative business models).

Lighthouse Cities:

Three European cities act as the mySMARTLife Lighthouse Cities (Nantes, Hamburg and Helsinki), where the demonstration actions are carried out.

Follower Cities:

Four Follower Cities (Varna, Bydgoszcz, Rijeka and Palencia) will directly learn from the experiences of the Lighthouse Cities and set up their own urban transformation plans.

mySMARTLife Cities Network:

Cities from Europe and beyond are invited to exchange experiences and learn directly from the mySMARTLife findings and results.
