The city of Bydgoszcz together with Enea Operator and the Institute of Energy are partners in the new Horizon 2020 project eNeuron: greEN Energy hUbs for local integRated energy cOmmunities optimization.
ENeuron's goal is to develop innovative tools to optimize the process of designing and operating local energy systems, the main task of which will be effective integration of distributed energy sources. The project was launched in November 2020 and will last four years.
The participation in the project will enable Bydgoszcz, through the exchange of experiences with the other project partners to create future system solutions in the field of distributed energy that has a chance to be applied nationwide.
The cooperation of energy sector enterprises with representatives of the scientific community and local governments allows for the exchange of experiences and the initiation of new ventures that will constitute a new added value to the current energy system. The task of all eNeuron project participants is to promote the Energy Hub concept as a control model and management of system-integrated distributed energy sources in order to optimize their operation. The Energy Hub concept is aimed at local prosumers: households, commercial and industrial entities who will benefit from lower costs while using local, low-carbon energy sources. The Energy Hub aims to provide effective, economical and sustainable solutions for both short and long term contracts.
“As part of the project, specialist equipment and software will be purchased to allow modeling of the network, energy flows and demand profiles. Part of the project is also participation in technical and economic assessments of the project concept, as well as the development of regulatory recommendations” - says Mateusz Buza, from the Energy Management Office who is the Project Coordinator for the City of Bydgoszcz.
