mySMARTLife Follower City Palencia has been awarded as the best local organiser of the 'Social Biking Challenge 2018' by the organising committee of the European Mobility Week. The award ceremony took place in Brussels on 21st March 2019.
During the European Mobility Week in September 2018, the European Commission launched a challenge to European cities that consisted in raising awareness and encouraging citizens to use bicycles in their city by organising a cycling competition called 'Social Biking Challenge 2018".
In the competition, it was possible to obtain local and European prizes in three categories for the best cyclists and a European special prize for the city that best organised the competition.
Palencia together with 25 European cities signed up for the European prize for the best local organiser of the 'Social Biking Challenge 2018 and was victorious! The prize will be awarded at the European Mobility Week ceremony to be held in Brussels on 21st March 2019, with the participation of the Commissioners of DG MOVE, DG EAC and DG ENV.
