elexity – Hamburg drives electrically: Daimler delivers 16 electric buses to the Borough of Bergedorf

Today, 16 Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric buses were delivered to the transport association Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) in typical Hamburg weather. Four more eCitaro solo buses as well as 17 articulated eCitaro G buses are going to be delivered by the end of 2020.

The brand-new white buses with the red “e” will be in service all day. They will only be recharged during the night at the bus depot using a smart load management system. Each bus has twelve battery packs with a total capacity of 292 kWh and is equipped with the Preventive Brake Assist and the turning assist Sideguard.

But also, the handling of electric vehicles must be learned: Therefore, mySMARTLife did finance different training workshops for mechanics, drivers and the fire brigade and did provide the rent for a temporary mobile charging infrastructure during the test phase.

Since this year, VHH orders exclusively local zero-emission buses operated under this brand. The cause of this is a resolution of the Hamburg Senate according to which from 2020 on only fully electric buses may be purchased for the Hanseatic City.

mySMARTLife wishes a good trip at all times!
